Review Equinoxe / Jean-Michel Jarre:As the follow up album to Oxygene, Equinoxe offers the same mesmerising affect, with rapid spinning sequencer washes and bubbling synthesizer portions all lilting back and forth to stardust scatterings of electronic pastiches. Using more than 13 different types of synthesizers, Jarre combines whirling soundscapes of multi-textured effects, passages, and sometimes suites to culminate interesting electronic atmospheres. Never repeating the same sounds twice, it is obvious that the science fiction hype of the late 70's played a large part in the making of this album. Computerised rhythms and keyboard-soaked transitions scurry by, replaced by even quicker, more illustrious ones soon after. There is always a pulsating beat or a fluttering tempo happening somewhere in each of the tracks, which are titled as a numbered sequence one to eight. Each track harbours its own energy and electronic fleetness, but none are identical in sound or pace. So much electronic colour is added to every track that it is impossible to concentrate on any particular segment, resulting in waves of synth drowning the ears at high tide. -Mike DeGagne, All Music Guide.

Review Interview With the Angel / Ghostland:Session musicians are often thought of as jobbing musicians without any vision of their own. However in , Interview with the Angel, Ghostland prove with their second album that there is often more grace and charm, purity and soul in the anonymous backroom boys than their more famous paymasters. Between the three members they have worked with everyone from Oasis to Bjork, Peter Gabriel to Simply Red yet Interview with the Angel easily holds its own against these competitors. A beautiful, spiritual, haunting and ethereal album it ebbs and flows its way through intelligent pop, New Age atmospherics, Celtic dreams and the sparse symphonics of composers such as Gorecki. While tracks such as "Sacred Touch Of Beauty", "Faith In Love" and "Angel Eyes" (featuring Sinead O'Connor) are relatively conventional pop songs in the vein of Sarah McLachlan or Natalie Imbruglia it's the drifting string pieces like "Calming the Sea" or the cinematic title track, with its Hans Zimmer flourishes that really stand out. The real highlight though is "The Kiss" which combines the aural soundscapes of Enya with the chiming otherworldliness of This Mortal Coil to create a gentle and warm embrace. -William Luff.

To celebrate that release's 30th anniversary, several hotshot European remixers went to work on "Teen Tonic," "Jericho Jerk," "Too Fortiche," and the most famous of all, "Psyché Rock. " The result is a superior showcase of just about every style in today's electronic music, from St. Germain's acid-jazz to Tek 9's hyperventilating drum and bass to Dimitri from Paris's easy touch. The duo-Man and Steve Cobby-have a knack for coming up with delightful, hybridised tunes that balance a killer club ethos with a distinctive musicality. Already eight albums deep in terms of their own artistic accomplishments, they have also turned in a vast amount of remixes for other people over the years. Hence the Brazillifiation series, which collects their best-or, at least, favourite-reworkings under one roof. Comprised of two discs, Brazilification 2 contains a dazzlingly broad range of sounds and styles that sashay exotically across the speakers, creating an evocative soundscape built from the duo's reworkings of Fluke's "Tosh", Cal Tjader's "Soul Sauce", Hoodrum's "How Jazz It?", United Future Organisation's "Cosmic Gypsy", Mellow's "Mellow", Jaffa's "Elevator" and King Louis' "Paraplegic Soul", among many others.
