Review Frosty the Snowman / International Children:This is the type of collection that presents an interesting dilemma for parents: The kids will love it and be entertained and occupied for hours. The only drawback is that you will have to hear it. Like most things that appeal to kids, there's something initially charming that soon loses its luster. Great sing-along classics are featured like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Jingle Bells. " "Up on the House Top" unfortunately has audience participation built right into it with its "click click click" line. "O Tannenbaum" is rather touching, but the inclusion of "Winter Wonderland" just might leave some children asking all the wrong questions. -Steve Gdula.

Review A Tweenies Christmas / Tweenies:A Tweenies Christmas comes hot on the heels of their sell-out stadium tours, the success of their debut album Friends Forever and the continued success of their TV show. Filled equally with new compositions and cover versions of favourite festive tunes (there's seven of each on the album), this is the ideal collection for getting children (and parents) into the Christmas party mood. Opener "I Believe in Christmas" is a swinging, pop number in the style of S Club 7's "Reach" but with added sleigh bells. If it wasn't for the baby-speak Tweenie vocals, it would be difficult to differentiate between this track and Rachel and Co "doing their thing". Another new tune "Light Up the World" is a warm, feel-good song set on Christmas Eve, while "Fab-A-Rooney Christmas" is the Tweenies jovial Christmas anthem. At times though the toddler-talk (or singing) does complement the song, for instance Milo's nasal rendition of "Merry Xmas Everybody" almost resembles Noddy Holder's blaring vocals on the Slade original. -John Galilee.

Review Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights [2002] (REGION 1) (NTSC) / Columbia TriStar:Adam Sandler fans will find the animated movie 8 Crazy Nights to be another flowering of Sandler's absurdist goofiness; but people who find Sandler completely annoying will be triply annoyed by it, because Sandler does the voices for three different characters: Davey Stone, a boozing, belching, self-loathing loser who hates the holidays; Whitey, a tiny old man who tries to rehabilitate Davey; and Eleanor, Whitey's neurotic twin sister, who seems not to have left her house in years. Fans will find the slapdash musical numbers and scatological humour hilarious; foes will find them tiresome and banal. But even Sandler's advocates won't care about the by-the-numbers plot of holiday redemption; you see, Davey's parents died on the first night of Hanukkah, and he just needs to cry about it. Sandler's best when he's walking that line between stupid and smart-ass. When he gets sentimental, it's trouble. -Bret Fetzer.

Review Blame It on Christmas / Various:Here's one of the coolest, yule-est satires of Christmas songs and spoofs ever to slide off Santa's sleigh. Blame It on Christmas boasts such telling titles as "Schlepp the Halls with Loaves of Hallah" in a kooky klezmer send-up and apes the Crosby, Como, and Sinatra holiday styles in "We Three Bings" and "That Swingin' Manger. " Throw in some exotica like "12 Arabian Nights," "The Inexcelsis Polka," and Irish, Mexican, and Italian spoofs of timeless carols, hymns, and songs-even a number called "The Second Noel"-and you know immediately that the tinsel tricksters behind these seasonal pranks are practicing the merriest of merriment anywhere on the globe.
